Our Mission:
Paddle Zoo is passionate about supporting new and seasoned paddlers to reach their full potential using a dual approach: We offer top quality equipment from the best brands out there and we draw from our combined decades of proven experience to develop unparalleled training content and coaching services.
John Murillo aka "MakaKoa"
John recently moved from Miami to the Seattle area and brings decades of competitive paddling experience. He was on the 2011 and 2013 Dragonboat US National Teams, has competed all over the world, loves connecting people in the paddle community, and helped grow an impressive outrigger canoe club in Miami. John also has a masters degree in exercise physiology and uses everything he’s learned to support his passion of helping others improve in their sport. As part of Paddle Zoo, John will be expanding our services to offer training and coaching while bringing his connections throughout the community to help our customers with new brands and products.
Matt Kearney - Founder
Matt began his paddling career on SUP before adding outrigger canoe. His love of paddling, competition, friendships in the community, and his entrepreneurial background led to the start of Paddle Zoo. Matt recently moved from Florida to Seattle, Washington where he began expanding the business by adding two new partners. He is also an ambassador for Puakea Designs and is quite possibly obsessed with downwinders and surfing boat wakes around Lake Union. After earning the coveted 5-year belt buckle award from the 32 mile Chattajack race in Tennessee, Matt completed the 70 mile overnight race on the Puget Sound in Washington: Seventy48.
